Tour historic “Haavahd Yaahd,” which is the center of life at Harvard University, the oldest institution of higher learning in the United States. Originally established in 1636 by vote of the Great and General Court of Massachusetts Bay Colony, Harvard was named for its first benefactor, John Harvard, a young minister who upon his death in 1638 left his library and half his estate to the new institution. The University has grown from nine students with a single master to an enrollment of more than 18,000 degree candidates, including undergraduates and students in 10 principal academic units. Seven U.S. Presidents graduated from Harvard, and its faculty has produced more than 40 Nobel laureates.
Your tour of this historic college campus will include stops at the Memorial Church in Harvard Yard, Harvard Hall, and the ivy-covered dorms where Franklin Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy and many other political, civic and business leaders spent their undergraduate years.
